The Cabin In The Woods

This film poster is the poster of The Cabin In The Woods.  This poster uses many techniques to intrigue its audience to go and see the film.  The first technique is the background.  The background of this is a fading outline of the woods.  This fading outline can give many different ideas towards the storyline of the film.  It could mine that there is no woods and its all an illusion or could mean that the woods is dangerous, the viewers will have to find out by watching the film and seeing what this fading means.  The main image on this poster is the outline of the Cabin, it is black and filled with loads of text about comments towards the film.  The main piece of text is the headline, "The Cabin In The Woods" is name of the film and the creators have put this as the main headline because the audience will remember the name and therefore will spread the news to other plus thus more people will know about this film.  This is also done in a different font style then the others, it is more relevant to the theme of the film.  The Cabin is filled with positive comments about the film from different types of media (Newspapers, magazines etc), and the creators have done this to make it appealing towards the target audience because if a film has loads of positive comments from professional opinions then the audience most likely think it is a good film because it as positive comments from professional opinions.  The creators have put it inside the Cabin to make it more relevant to the film.  The phrase "You think you know the story.  Think again", has many functions which make it appeal towards its audience, one is that the word "you" is an example of synthetic personalisation, the word "you" makes the individual think the poster is based towards them but in reality it is based towards a a much wider audience.  Also this phrase makes the audience think, because it in includes "Think again", which will make the audience think, but they will want to know and therefore they will see the film.  The other text on this, is the producers and writer of the film, they have done this because they will be recognised and therefore people will go and see the film.  The final piece of text is the release date.  They released it on Friday the 13th which is the date were bad things are meant to happen, the producers have done this on purpose be make the audience more feared towards the film.
